How long does it take to experience Battle of the Jack O’Lanterns?

Battle of the Jack O'Lanterns is a self guided tour and guests move at their own pace however most people spend anywhere from 45 minutes to 1 hour and 15 minutes at the event.

What else is there to do at Battle of the Jack O’Lanterns?

We'll have a small gift shop and refreshments made locally from Baked By Susan!

Where can I park?

Complimentary parking is located on site. There will be no parking fees collected when you arrive at Battle of the Jack O'Lanterns. 

What happens if I'm running late?

If you're a little late for your time you will still be admitted in with your valid ticket. There are no refunds or exchanges if you miss your date altogether.

What happens if it rains?

Battle of the Jack O'Lanterns is a rain or shine event. In cases of severe weather, we reserve the right to cancel the event and re-issue you a ticket for a different day and time. For more information about our weather policy, click here.

Can I take pictures?

Photography is permitted at Battle of the Jack O'Lanterns however, for the safety of our guests, flash photography, tripods, monopods, and selfie sticks are prohibited. 

What is Battle of the Jack O'Lanterns?

Battle of the Jack O'Lanterns is Westchester's newest Fall event coming to Yorktown! It's a live pumpkin carving competition where you will see 100 talented local carvers and sculptors slice, dice, and create gourd-geous works of pumpkin art! Our panel of Halloween experts will be on-hand to judge the best carves in five categories.  Each team will pre-select a charity of their choice and each winning team will receive $1,000 for their charity!  Winning teams may also be awarded PAID carving positions at this and other events in 2019!

 

Can my 2 year old come for free?

Yes! All kids 2 years and under come free! Anyone 3 and older needs a Child (3-17) or Adult (18+) ticket. Please note that while kids 2 and under are free for entry to Battle of the Jack O'Lanterns, they still require a ticket. Please select the free child 2 and under option for all children 2 and under in your party.

Is Battle of the Jack O'Lanterns an indoor or outdoor event?

Battle of the Jack O'Lanterns is an outdoor event so be sure to dress appropriately for weather conditions!

Can I bring my pet?

We love pets but, for their safety and for the safety of our guests, we do not permit them at Battle of the Jack O'Lanterns. Only guide dogs for the blind and service animals for people with disabilities will be permitted at Battle of the Jack O'Lanterns in accordance with ADA requirements.

Are all of your Jack O'Lanterns real pumpkins?

Yes! All of the pumpkins you see at Battle of the Jack O'Lanterns are real pumpkins and they're spectacular! We're not messing around with run-of-the-mill small pumpkins here at Battle. We're carving 100 pound GIANT pumpkins! For you savvy pumpkinato's out there, we'll be utilizing Big Macs and Prizewinners!

Can I bring outside food?

Battle of the Jack O'Lanterns will have delicious snacks and beverages available for purchase. Outside food is not permitted. 

Can I come early?

If you arrive earlier than your ticket time you will need to wait until your timeslot is being admitted so it's best to try to arrive right on time!

What dates/times are still available?

Certain dates and times sell out fast. You may click on the Buy Tickets tab to see which dates and times are still available.

Where is Battle of the Jack O'Lanterns located? How do I get there?

Battle of the Jack O'Lanterns is coming to Yorktown Grange Fairgrounds! Located at 99 Moseman Rd, Yorktown Heights, NY 10598.

Are wheelchairs allowed?

Wheelchairs are permitted at Battle of the Jack O'Lanterns, though we do not supply them on-site. If you require a wheelchair, please make sure to bring your own as we will not be able to provide one for use once you arrive.

Are strollers allowed?

Strollers are permitted at Battle of the Jack O'Lanterns, however, we do not supply strollers on-site. Please bring your own stroller from home as we will not be able to provide one for use once you arrive.

I'm excited about Battle of the Jack O'Lanterns. When is it?

Battle of the Jack O'Lanterns will be held on October 19 - 20, 2018.  Advanced tickets are required and are sold on a first-come first-served basis. Please click “Buy Tickets” for dates and times. The Battle sells out fast so order your tickets now before they’re gone!

Is there anything I shouldn't bring with me to Battle of the Jack O'Lanterns?

The following types of items are prohibited at Battle of the Jack O'Lanterns:

  • Skateboards
  • Scooters
  • Drones
  • Remote control toys
  • Inline skates
  • Shoes with built-in wheels
  • Double wide strollers
  • Outside food and/or beverage (excluding baby food/formula)
  • Weapons of any kind
  • Pets (not including service animals)
  • Tripods, monopods, and selfie sticks  

Additional items may also not be permitted at The Battle. Please use your best judgment and do not bring anything that may be potentially harmful or disruptive. In an effort to ensure the safety of our guests and employees, we reserve the right to inspect backpacks and bags of any kind prior to admission. Any guest who refuses to submit to a search request may not be permitted to enter The Battle. 

Where may I smoke?

Smoking, including the use of e-cigarettes, is strictly prohibited anywhere on the grounds or parking lots at Battle of the Jack O'Lanterns.

Tickets
How do I obtain a refund?

Once an order is placed, generally, there are NO REFUNDS OR EXCHANGES.  ALL SALES ARE FINAL.   NO EXCEPTIONS will be granted due to rain, scheduling conflicts, illness, or other personal issues. Battle tickets are transferable and can be given to friends/family/etc. if you are unable to attend. Please read our Refunds and Exchanges Policy for more information. 

How much are tickets?

Battle ticket rates vary depending on the date and time but range from $16-$21 + up to $1.00 for fees. You can sign up to receive a promocode for discounted tickets by visiting jackolanterns.com/getCodes.

I have tickets for Battle of the Jack O'Lanterns and need to add one or two more but it's now sold out for my timeslot. What do I do?

If you need additional tickets for a sold out timeslot, you may join the wait list for that time. We cannot guarantee that any tickets will become available but, if we are able to accommodate your request, we will send you an email with a link to purchase your additional tickets from the wait list.

How do I get discounted tickets?

You can sign up to receive a promocode for discounted tickets to Battle of the Jack O'Lanterns by visiting jackolanterns.com/getCodes and submitting your email address. An automatic email will be sent to you with your promocode. Promocodes are good for a variable discount of up to 50% off. There are a limited number of discounted tickets available per promocode to select dates and time slots. Tickets sell out quickly so get yours now before they’re gone!

Can I change my ticket date/time?

Battle of the Jack O'Lanterns has a general no-exchange policy; however, we may be able to honor an exchange request based upon ticket availability as long as certain circumstances are met. Click here to read more about our exchange policy and see if you meet the exchange criteria. Battle tickets are transferable and can be given to friends or family if you are unable to attend your scheduled date and time.

Do I need to print my tickets or can I bring them on my smart phone?

Jackolanterns.com has a cool mobile site that will display a .PDF of your bar-coded tickets on Smartphones (iPhone, Android, Windows). You can login to our website upon arrival or open your order email to pull up your bar-coded tickets. Then if you prefer, save your order PDF directly to your phone and you won't even need Internet access at the venue to pull up your tickets. You don't need to download any special apps at all! 

I missed my date. Can I use my tickets for another day?

Sorry, Battle tickets are only valid on the date and time for which they were purchased.  We do not offer refunds and tickets cannot be exchanged once their original date has passed.

How are my tickets delivered?

After you place your order, we will automatically email you a link to view/download/print your tickets. You could also login to our website to view/print your tickets. All tickets are delivered electronically and are not sent in the mail. We do not hold or sell tickets at the door.

Do I need to buy my tickets ahead of time?

Yes! We pre-sell all of our tickets so we can limit the number of people who are on the trail at any given time. It's a safety thing. We will not be selling tickets at the door.  You can purchase your tickets by clicking on the Buy Tickets tab at the top of the page. You can also sign up for a promocode to get discounted tickets by visiting jackolanterns.com/getCodes.

I have tickets for one time and my friends have tickets for another time. Can we all go in together?

Battle tickets are only valid for the date and time they were purchased. Please be sure to coordinate with your group so that you all have tickets for the same time. 

My tickets won't print. What am I supposed to do?

If you have a smartphone (iPhone, Android, Windows) you can login to our website or open your order email upon arrival to pull up your bar-coded tickets. If you don't have a smartphone, write down your order number and bring it to Guest Services upon arrival. You will need to verify the last 4 digits of the credit card you used.

If I get tickets for the last timeslot will I be able to see everything before you close?

The Battle closes for entry 30 minutes after the last scheduled ticket time. Those who are still on site will be able to finish  at their own pace, however no further entry will be permitted at that time.

Do you have group rates?

We may be able to provide a discount for groups of 20 people or more. Please Contact Us for more information.

I signed up to receive a promocode but haven't heard back.

The promocode email is sent to you immediately after you submit your email address. If you signed up for a promocode and haven't gotten an email back, it's likely in your SPAM FOLDER. Please check there. If you didn't receive your promocode and it's not in your spam folder, there may have been a typo when you submitted your email address. Try submitting your email address again by visiting jackolanterns.com/getCodes.

I never got the email with my tickets after I placed my order. How do I obtain my tickets?

An automatic email with a link to print your tickets is sent to you right after you place your order. If you’ve placed your order and haven't received this email, CHECK YOUR SPAM FOLDER.  Be sure to check the email account that you gave us when purchasing your tickets. You can also log in to our website to view and print your tickets using the email address you gave us and the password you created when completing your order.  The login page is here: https://jackolanterns.com/site/login.

Can you hold tickets for me and I will pay later?

Tickets to Battle of the Jack O'Lanterns are sold on a first-come first-served basis. There will be no holds placed on ticket orders.

Can I pay for my tickets with cash or a check?

All tickets to Battle of the Jack O'Lanterns are sold online in advance. As such, we cannot accept cash or checks but we do accept all major credit cards. We will not be selling tickets at the door. Your website is not allowing me to select the number of tickets I want. Why?

This is likely because you are trying to obtain more tickets than what we have remaining for a particular date/time.  You may need to select a different date/time that can accommodate your whole party.

Carver Questions
How do I register to compete in Battle of the Jack O'Lanterns?

Entrants can register in one of two categories: Amateur Carvers or Professional Sculptors & Artists. To learn more, and to register, visit our Carver Registration page at jackolanterns.com/register.

I am registered as a carver. What should I bring with me?

Whatever you need! Battle of the Jack O'Lanterns will supply you with a 100 pound pumpkin and you do the rest! Be sure to bring any chairs, carving tools, props, decorations, and/or battery powered lights you need. Please note there is no power available so do not bring anything that needs to be plugged in! 

Can I bring someone to carve with me?

Absolutely! Carvers can carve alone or in groups of up to 4 people. Please note that while your team may consist of individuals of any age, competitors under the age of 18 are expressly prohibited from handling any sharp tools or objects.  If your team consists of less than 4 members, you may use the remaining “spots on your team” to bring visitors.  At no time is any team permitted to bring any combination of visitors or competitors that exceed 4 persons total. 

I'm carving at Battle of the Jack O'Lanterns. What time should I arrive?

The times for each night of competition are 4:00pm to 11:30pm.

When will you be picking a winner?

Our panel of Halloween experts will be on-hand to judge the best carves in five categories.  Each team will pre-select a charity of their choice and each winning team will receive $1,000 for their charity! Entrants will be scored at the end of each night and the winning teams will be announced at the end of the night on Saturday, October 20, 2018!
